The new research building, whose construction cost approx. 20 million dollars, and which covers a total area of 8,000 sq. meters, is located between the School of Medicine to the east and the new Rehabilitation Building to the west. The building has an urban façade facing Ben Gurion Blvd. and another façade facing the medical center and the old psychiatric ward building, which is scheduled to be demolished in the future.
The building includes three floors built above a basement floor. It has an iconic façade which includes linear shading elements which are randomly placed on the facades. The building has two entrances – one from Ben Gurion Blvd. and the other from the medical center. The facades are coated with aluminum panels. Linear "stripe" windows fit in with the general cubist composition of the facades. The basement floor includes laboratories, a tissue bank and areas to be populated in the future. The ground floor includes the entrance lobbies located at the sides of the building, a large classroom, clinical areas and administration.
The entrance from the medical center leads to the lobby area – an atrium reaching all the way up to the roof of the building. The first floor includes laboratories located along the eastern façade and administrative areas located along the western façade.
The second floor includes laboratories, culture areas, refrigerators, a coffee corner overlooking the lobby area and offices.
